The Protocol and Nominations Committee considered a list of possible candidates for election to the Executive Board. Some of the listed names had come from National Member Societies in response to a request for suggestions. Others listed by the Committee were recognised as having an international profile and who had contributed significantly to the work of the Society. From this list of candidates the Committee endeavoured to produce a Slate of Nominations which would provide a broad professional and geographical balance. The Committee made its recommendation to the Executive Board which then had the responsibility of finalising the Slate of Nominations which was announced at the interim meeting of International Committee Representatives in February 2009.
I have sent a letter including full details of the Slate of Nominations and curriculum vitae for the candidates to all National Member Societies. They may, if they wish, nominate further candidates for election to any of the positions on the Slate (except, of course, Immediate Past President) between now and January 2010.
If I receive additional nominations, I shall arrange a ballot of all Members of the International Committee early in 2010.
The new Executive Board will be introduced to you and take office in May 2010 at the World Assembly during the World Congress in Leipzig, Germany.
